Over the last 6 months I have focused on rebuilding the majority of the backend code that deals with calculating parts reuse between sets (i.e. the main reason behind Rebrickable!). I am happy, and quite a bit relieved, to finally announce that this new functionality is now live and I am going to go ahead and call it v2 :)
I've been looking at options for a forum for ages but didn't find anything I liked 100%. However, the time has come to "just pick one already!" and so Rebrickable now has a Forum section :) The existing comments on Rebrickable are great for specific sets or parts, but lack the flexibility of a general discussion forum.
Recently I added a few new links to the downloads page but have not mentioned it here. I have opened up the parts inventories for all sets on Rebrickable for anyone to download for free use for any purpose.
I get a lot of emails asking about the images I use for the parts on the site. I also get a lot of people trying to download all the images via automated tools which can hurt performance of the site for everyone. I've come up with a solution that I hope addresses both points!
Here's a new feature that I think will come in extremely handy. The new Compare Sets page (under the Sets menu) lets you pick two sets and see which parts they have in common and which parts from each set are unique.
I’ve been very busy at work on the site, but have not gotten around to writing up any of the recent changes. I won’t bother listing everything as there is simply too much to write about I’ll just do some of the highlights here.
So I was finally bugged enough times to put the old Light Gray/Dark Gray colors back in :)
First an explanation of how we got here. When...
I have enhanced the way set management works on Rebrickable. Previously you had a single Set List with all of your sets. Now you can have multiple Set Lists to further split up your sets.
What is a Set List? It is simply a collection of sets (and can...
I finally finished something I've been meaning to do for a long time – improve the search features. I have basically replaced the existing set and part searches with a single page which I hope is simpler to use and produces far better results.
