Roller Coaster Train Chassis




This is the engine and chassis for building a small motorized train that will operate on the new roller coaster track system. You can see a train I built using it in the video below.

To mount the engine on the track, you do have to detach a track section and slide the motor onto it from one end.

The instructions depict it using the AAA battery box, but you can use any of the Power Functions battery boxes. Feel free to add the IR receiver if you want to control it remotely.

It seems to work fairly reliably, though I have only run it continuously for about an hour. I've yet to see how it will hold up running for a full day at a show. The drive axles running through the bottom of the engine car are under a bit of stress, so I expect there will be some ABS dust. :)
